1. Write down three things you would like to change in your life.

a._My time in God's Word. I desire to get more serious about studying the Bible.

b.__My attitudes. I desire to be a more patient woman with my family. I would like them to see me as a kind and gracious woman, especially in the use of my words.

c. Use my time more effectively.

2. Of those three things, pick one that's priority, that you would like to break down into several manageable steps.

My first priority will be to get more serious about studying God's Word.

3. Find a verse (s) from Scripture that can assist you with the change you would like to make.

Proverbs 1:2-5: By becoming a more serious student of God's Word, I will obstain wisdom and discipline; I will understand words of insight; I will acquire a disciplined and prudent life; I will do what is right, just and fair. I will gain prudence, knowledge and discretion. I will add to my learning and gain guidance.

4. What Scriptural character(s) can be a role model for you? Explain.

The godly Jews in the Old Testament are a role model to me. The Word of God meant everything to them. They kept God's Word not only in their heart, but they diligently taught the Word to their children continually...when they sat in their house, when they took a walk, when they lied down and when they rose up. So important was God's Word, they wore the Word on their forehead in the form of a small leather pouch (Deuteronomy 6:7).

5. Who is a good example of what you are trying to become? How might you observe him/her?

My husband, Brian. I can learn from him, by observing more closely his own time with God, and imitate those things that make him the godly man he is.

6. What resources can help you change? (Who can help you, hold you accountable? What things can you buy, or find out about?)

I can buy or even use online the following resources:

Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible (helpful in discovering the depth and meaning of a word).

Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament by R. Laird Harris (helpful in discovering the depth and meaning of a word).

A Bible dictionary or Bible encyclopedia (helpful in understanding the times, customs and people).

Also, I can buy a Bible Atlas (helpful in understanding where things took place. Many Bibles have an atlas included.

7. Put in order the steps you will do to accomplish your goal.

This Monday I will go to the bookstore (or search online) the resources needed to get deeper in the Word of God.

Tuesday I will get up 1/2 hour earlier and get familiar with my concordance.

Wednesday I will get up 1/2 hour earlier and get familiar with the Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament.

Thursday I will get up 1/2 hour earlier and get familiar with the Bible atlas.

Friday I will get up 1 hour earlier. Come to God's Word alert, prayer, and systematic (in other words, I will have a plan, a regular and orderly fashion of studying the Bible).

Saturday I will do as I begun on Friday.

Sunday I will take all I have learned, meditated and contemplated upon and bring it with me, in my heart, to church.

8. What criteria will you use to determine whether you are making definite progress or have been successful in reaching your goal? (For example, if your goal is to control your temper, you might consider it major progress not to lose your temper for three weeks).

I will see myself successful if I can first of all, get up earlier to spend adequate time in the Word (or get enough time before going to bed). Second, I will see success if I have used the tools properly. Third, success comes as I grow more indepth in the Word of God.

9. When will you assess your progress? (For example, what day of the week will you set aside a few minutes to reflect on how you are doing?)

Every Saturday I will evaluate how my progress has been for the week, and how I can improve.

10. Now pick a second priority. Put on the calendar when you will begin priority two and then three.

Second priority: Immediately change my attitudes about my circumstances, knowing the Lord loves me and is in control of my life.

Third priority: Use time more effectively, starting Monday (insert date of when priority will begin).
